Pres. Obama visits Republican House of Representatives

I'm not really sure how I would rate President Obama's first year in office. I mean, I recognize that he came into office with a full plate of problems (war, economy) that he did not create. He also came into office with a target on his back because he was the first... um... well you know. Along the campain trail Obama preached change, a new political climate, a new way to run government. In all honesty though, things look very similar to the status quo from my perspective. Campain promises to bring our troops home and to reform health care have been bogged down by the same political tug of war that we've seen for decades. It is still early, and there still is hope, but at some point all the moving, hope-filled speeches have to give way to some defined, measurable progress. Friday, hopefully was the start of the change we've heard about for so long. President Obama stood before the Republican House of Representatives and for over an hour answered questions posed by many of his critics. It was finally a moment where President Obama stood firm, held his ground, and stopped playing Mr. nice guy. Hopefully this day was a sign of things to come. That we will see our President move forward with his agenda even if the right wing objects or name calls. It was really a sight to behold as Obama went one-on-one hundred and forty and for all intents and purposes "won". I for one hope that this was the beginning of a new day and not just one more great speech from a great politician.

Jon Voight is Not an Obama Fan

He actually says in this interview "They're happy with the healthcare they have". It still mind boggles me how the people with health insurance have been saying that everything is fine. HELLO!!!! You have health insurance. No one doesn't want health insurance. We all want, need, and should have it. If so many millions of Americans do not have it, why are you trying to stop them from getting it??? This is not a political issue. This is an issue of life and death. If Jon Voigt gets a heart attack, he will be just fine. If Jo Jo up the block gets the same heart attack, he is going to have to pay a lot of out the pocket dough to get the same care. Come on man. I hope to write more on this once all the smoke clears because this is a huge issue.

Obama Listens to Your Thoughts

President Obama reads 10 letters everyday sent by YOU the people. I'm sure most of them he reads now are in regards to healthcare, the economy, and "The War." This is really cool and I hope he is taking these to heart. Staying in touch with the needs of the people should bring forth good policy. Could Dubya even read?

Young Con Anthem

I don't have time to rebuff this video for all the inaccuracies and political false statements it has. So, I'll look at it like a regular rap video. This is one of the most insulting videos I've seen in a while. Will Asher Roth and Eminem please whoop the shit out of these two cats for me?!?! Rapping has become so mainstream and diluted that THIS is considered rapping. And of course they are moving their arms around and saying "son" every 30 seconds. WTF??? The Young Cons made an appearance on Fox News and one of the hosts from Fox and Friends said "You guys don't look like rappers." And you know what, homey? They don't sound like rappers either! As a hip-hop fan, this makes me sick. I don't agree with their views, but they have every right to express them. I love hearing the conservative view point because it lets me know how the other side thinks. I have no problem with that. But, please don't pass this off as rap. This is nothing but a lame attempt for conservatives to try and reach the young folks because Barack has that demographic on LOCK! A recent Gallup Poll said the faces that Americans identified as the head of the Rubuplican party were Rush Limbaugh, John McCain, Newt Gingrich, Dick Cheney, and Michale Steele. They....are.....all.....really.....old. So maybe the Young Cons will reach some younger voters with this video. Good luck with that..........."son."

President Obama Speaks to the Muslim World in Cairo

This is an hour long clip so you may need to set some time aside to watch. I hear some Muslims were disappointed that he chose to speak at Cairo and not another city, such as Jakarta, that has a higher Muslim population. Pakistan comes in second in regards to the number of Muslims and there was NO WAY he was about to speak there. We have a long way to go as far as rebuilding the relationship between Muslims and Christians, but speeches like this give me confidence that it can be done. Let's hope that this is the first in a string of attempts to repair that relationship.

STIMULATED!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!

The American Recovery and Reinvestment Act of 2009 (The Stimulus Plan) will be signed by President Barack Obama on Tuesday. The Act provides tax cuts and also provides spending to Education, the country's Infrastructure, Welfare, Energy, and Health Care. At this time it is unclear on how we can tell if the stimulus is working. Economists say that it will take years before we know if there was any impact made, but the thought seems to be universal that something needed to be done immediately. No Republicans voted for the bill so there will most certainly be significant backlash from The GOP in the coming months. President Obama has said on numerous occasions that everything will not be fixed with the passing of this bill. It will take more time and effort from all of us to get this country going back in the right direction. For further reading on The Act itself and how it will affect you, please see the links below:

Alphacat (as Barack Obama) - "Whatever I Like"

I was hesitant to post this video earlier because I couldn't tell if it was really funny or really lame. Ayo, I don't know what was wrong with me because this is HILARIOUS!!!! "No more shady healthcare, you can get what I get!" Don't let the fact that dude looks like Drake throw you off. Pure comedy.

My President is STILL Black and I Don't Think Bill Likes It One Bit!!!!

Okay now I'm mad! We posted the original video earlier this week and I guess Bill got his hands on it too. How is this concert bringing the country apart? How is this rap damaging to the black community? Because they used the N-word? The F-word? Clearly Mr. O'Reilly and Mr. Miller do not view this the same way that reasonable people will. The majority of the country is ecstatic the Bush is gone! We had to endure and suffer through 8 years of bad policy and bad decisions. And we had to just watch the way that he carried himself throughout his tenure in office. I know I never said to myself "Yes, that is what a President should be. He is the best man for the job!" So excuse us if we want to cuss and yell for the simple fact that he is out and the man replacing him looks like us. And it doesn't matter if Barack "approves" of what Jay and Jeezy said. I'm sure Jay's momma doesn't "approve" of him saying a lot of things. But, he is a grown man and has the right to use those words if he wishes. Neither Jay nor Jeezy talked about killing or doing any type of harm to Mr. Bush. This is not an act that requires a segment on a Prime time news show. If you need material I'm sure there are plenty of New Orleans "refugees" that would love to holla at ya Bill! But, look on the bright side. At least Bill thinks Jay is a "sane" individual. I'm sure Hov worked his whole life for that kind of back-handed compliment. GTFOH!!!!!
