The Clipse!

I saw this over at Nahright.com, I can't wait for this Clipse album. I was listening to "Warning" ft. Rock City yesterday thinking, they need to go ahead and give us the album early. One of my favorite groups since they dropped "The Funeral", I remember seeing the video the summer before moving down to VA. I was amazed at the visuals, the beat, the lyrics, it was perfect. I found out they were from Virginia Beach, where I was moving to, and every chance I had, I was asking people what's up with their album. The album, Exclusive Audio Footage, never came out but everything happens for a reason because when "Grindin" hit, it HIT! They got some of the respect they deserve, although I personally feel they deserve more. Til The Casket Drops needs to drop soon!

"Flu Game" Jordan 12's Are Sick!

The nubuck upper (which I know upset a lot of people, but I like it) and the little details on the side and tongue, I'm sold!

Drake Says "Run This Town" Was Originally a Rihanna Record

THIS IS JAY-Z DAY!

It was recently brought to my attention that Jay-Z jacked the "Run This Town" record from Rihanna. According to Drizzy:

"I think Jay made a great choice," he (Drake) says. "I think the 'Run This Town' song is phenomenal. I think Kanye kills that s---. I actually heard that song when it was a Rihanna track."

When I first heard the track, the hook was the thing that stayed with me. And Rihanna gets about 30 seconds at the end of the song to showcase her voice. This is similar to what happened to the "Must Be Love" joint that Day26 recorded and then ended up as a single for Cassie and Diddy. I'm hoping Drake will still make the cut for Blueprint 3 and I'm looking forward to September 11th.

Melanie Fiona Video

T-Smitty did an artist spotlight on Melanie Fiona a little while back. Here is her video for Give It To Me Right. She's a very talented artist and I'm interested in hearing what her album will sound like.

This Ain't Even Funny!

Make sure you watch until the end.

This Dude Is Another Nut!

Spotted at 2dopeboyz.com

The Drake Version

This Dude Is A Nut!

Kid Sister - Right Hand High

Kid Sister was big bright spot on my radar after the "Pro Nails Remix" with Mr. Kanye West. That song was bananas. I heard a few other joints she did and they were cool too. This song isn't half bad. I have a feeling her album is going to be futuristic squared.

Pat Buchanan is Must See TV

So everyone else in the world says that Sotomayor is the "most" qualified appointee in the history of the Supreme Court. But, Pat says she is unqualified and an Affirmative Action pick. Strike one. She's never written anything that "he" has read. Strike two and this one was waaaaaaay too easy! And I'm not even going to do a STRIKE THREE on the whole white people built the country comment. That would be like fighting with a three year-old. If it wasn't for slavery this country would be so far behind the rest of the world it's appalling. You get hundreds of thousands of people to give you free work for over 400 years. That's how you get ahead. I love watching stuff like this because it really lets me know how some people think. We all knew Pat Buchanan had issues with race. And I'm not one to call someone a racist becuase they are against Affirmative Action or because they are proud to be a white male or whatever. We all have, and SHOULD have, different views on the world. But, this guy is really making it hard to not deserve the R-Word. At least he gave black people props on running track! That's a compliment, right? I'd write more on this, but I'm getting heated just listening to this. I'M OUT!

Sherlock Holmes Trailer

Robert Downey Jr. is truly trying to take his career to the next level. Ironman is going to be a great franchise, he killed it in Tropic Thunder and this looks pretty good. We just won't talk about The Soloist! It's elementary that I'm going to go see this. Elementary.

2010 Mercedes Benz E Class closer look

D. Mack previewed the new E-Class a while ago, here's a closer look. The look of the car is exceptional as always but the safety features and technology they're including are the icing on the cake. If I hit the lotto it will be my first purchase

Apple NetBook?

Apple has always been at the forefront of innovation and technology. With the success of the new Macbook line, and the explosion of the IPhone, there have long been rumblings of a netbook. The netbook is a tablet PC, imagine a notebook-sized IPhone/Ipod touch. The rumblings are getting louder that not only is Apple ready to launch this newest innovation, but it could be sooner than later.

Malice's Latest Video Blog

Malice Video Blog 5 from Malice of the Clipse on Vimeo.

Good Message! It's all about what you see in the videos these days. Everybody's trying to be a thug and or trapstar these days. Most of the rappers can't be living like it is the videos. Props to Malice for at least being truthful in these blogs, although their videos will tell a different story. Those music videos are entertainment. In the Hampton Roads, you have senseless killings of young high school athletes with bright futures. It's sad that a lot people are only attracted to the negativity put out there and also consider it cool to be ignorant. But it's like they say, the road only leads to being dead or in jail. Anyway, that's my little rant.

Artist Spotlight - Electrik Red

Prince had Apollonia 6 and Vanity 6. Rick James had the Mary Jane Girls. The-Dream is now trying to enter the girl-group arena with Electrik Red. Granted, they were a fully-functioning group with songs & videos prior to signing with Def Jam, but their they have blown up since hooking up with The-Dream. Formed in 2005, the group consists of Kyndra "Binkie" Reevey and Lesley Lewis from New York as well as Naomi Allen and Sarah Rosete from Toronto. They were all back-up dancers that came together to form a "singing" group. They signed with Def Jam in 2008 and The-Dream took them under his wing and executive produced their first album along with Tricky Stewart. I'm a big fan of The-Dream so I took a chance and copped How To Be a Lady: Volume 1 and it took me by surprise. We can debate for hours the notion of if you have to be able to sing in order to be an R&B artist. I'm not sure if these ladies can sing, but they can entertain, kinda like The-Dream. The first single was "Drink in My Cup" and I like how the verses were done and it sounded kinda fresh. I still wasn't convinced until I heard the "So Good" remix with Lil' Wayne. After I heard that track I knew the production was going to be tight. After playing the album those songs aren't even my favorite cuts. "Devotion" is a really nice mid-tempo track that showcases some singing ability from the group. The song "Bed Rest" could easily be played on urban radio, but unfortunately I don't think it will be released as a single. The group decided to release "Friend Lover" instead and shot a pretty cool video for it. Even though I like the album, some of the tracks I can't stand because they are either too vulgar for an R&B track or because the beat throws me off. Steer clear of "W.F.Y.", "Kill Bill", and "P is for Power." The album has only sold about 10,000 copies so I'm not sure they will get to release a sophomore disc, but I'm hopeful. I think with a little growth they can be relevant in the industry. They are definitely challenging the status quo of what it means to be a lady. Do ya thing ladies.

Drake - The Winner

"I'm never lookin' down, so I always know what's uuuuuuup." - Jimmy from Degrassi

New Drizzy! I really hope I don't get tired of hearing this guy before he even releases an album. This song is good, but sounds more like an album track than a single so we'll see. But, I can tell Drake has a knack for putting words together and rapping so this kinda stuff is prolly easy for him. Link Below. Props to 2DopeBoyz.

OLD SKOOL VIDEO SPOTLITE - Terence Trent D'Arby - "Wishing Well"

Terence Trent D'Arby should have had more commercial success. He won a Grammy, a Soul Train award, and had his debut album, Introducing the Hardline According to Terence Trent D'Arby, sell millions of records here and overseas. But, the commercial success didn't last too long as his next two albums, Neither Fish Nor Flesh (A Soundtrack of Love, Faith, Hope & Destruction) and Symphony or Damn, both failed to make a statement on the charts. The good news is that those albums were recieved well by critics unlike his most recent albums. "Wishing Well" was one of the songs I used to love hearing on the radio when I was younger. In a way I feel like Terence paved the way for artists like Darius Rucker and Anthony David to do what they do today. Maybe like the male counterpart to Tracy Chapman? Maybe. Either way, there is always room for songs like these on the radio because they are funky, catchy, and don't sound like everything else you hear. Big ups to TTD'A.

Game trying to bait Jay Z

I really think that Game is bipolar. Following the death of Michael Jackson he said he wanted to make peace with 50 Cent. How do you go from peacemaker with your arch nemesis to talkin really wreckless about Jay and Beyonce over him just saying your name on an album intro?

Mason Betha and Cameron Giles reunited

I don't know how relevant either of these cats are anymore, but each had a nice buzz before Harlem World imploded and they started beefin.

My Ish Right Now!

Behind the Scenes at "The One" video shoot

This is mad old. I was wondering if I should post it, but I ran across a comment on another blog where someone said Tahiry had a "Brick Face." I guess that means a face like a brick which translates to ugly. Look, if you think Joey is wack that is perfectly okay with me. If you think she is overrated.....once again fine by me. But to say someone has an ugly face when they do not because you don't like her boyfriend is pure hate. That's all. Oh and check out "The One" video by Slaughterhoue on MTV Jams Sunday the 12th.

The GAME disses Jay-Z.................Part Deux!

Okaaaaay so Jay brought this upon himself. He should have never mentioned Game's name because Jayceon has been waiting for this moment since 2004. He got what he wanted. But, it's only been two disses and I'm already over this. Jay's album is going to be more anticipated, more better, and just more relevant than anything The Game is going to do. I'm sure The Game will milk this until about, oh let's say September 12th, 2009. I Know How This Movie Ends!!! - Jay-Z

NO CREDIT CHECK????? I'm going to L.A. to lease my Bentley this weekend! The verse he spits is from "Whip Game Proper" and that came out a good 2-3 years back, but it still knocks! Raekwon the Chef has one of these as well.

Hip-Hop Loves Michael Jackson!!!

With the recent passing of the greatest entertainer of all time, I am realizing just how popular and loved he was. MSNBC has been doing a great job of coverage today and they have been showcasing all aspects of his stardom. But, what they haven't shown is the hip-hop perspective. I mean Toure has been speaking, but no real love from the hip-hop community. I'm sure BET is doing something too, but they never get anything right so what's the point in watching, right? So how does the hip-hop community show it's love & respect for Mike? Well they have been doing it for years, but maybe we just weren't paying attention. So I decided to do a quick rundown of all the Michael Jackson-inspired lyrics I could think of. This doesn't include the numerous artists that sampled his music. Please feel free to add your comments if you can think of any that I forgot. Here we go:

"I put Mike Jack on stage at Summer Jam, Billie Jean,
I put Prodigy in his place on that Summer Jam screen." - Jay-Z - "Put On" Remix

"This is "Bad" real bad, Michael Jackson
Now I'm mad, real mad, Joe Jackson
You should leave your boyfriend now, I'ma ask him" - Kanye West - "Knock You Down"

"Leave ya' lookin like the Michael Jackson jackets wit' all them zippers,
I'm the boss on this boat, you can call me skipper
The way I turn the money over, you should call me flipper" - 50 Cent - "Patiently Waiting"

"Ask Michael Jackson who bad, he says I am
but the queen not drag, dag
I'm bad enough to let my pants sag" - Missy Elliott - "Steelo"

"Your boy's "Off the Wall" these other niggas is Tito.....,
.....Damn! Aye baby I said I'm "Off the Wall." I'm like a young Michael Jackson these other niggas is Tito. Shout out to Randy" - Jay-Z - "Party Life"

"Hits in a row like MJ, 'Hee-Hee!'" - Jay-Z - "It's Hot" (Some Like it Hot)

"The new young Prince with young Mike Jackson on the same track, What!" - Nas - "Make the World Go 'Round

"Real sick, brawl nights, I perform like Mike,
Anyone -- Tyson, Jordan, Jackson" - Biggie - "Victory"

G.I. Joe: The Rise of Cobra (Trailer)

After Transformers: Revenge of the Fallen was panned by critics, I am kinda worried about this movie coming out. I'm gonna go see it regardless and I'm sure I'll like it, but I want to see a sequel so I am hoping for moderate reviews and a nice box office. They got so many more characters they need to bring out and one movie won't do the franchise justice. August 7th, it's a wrap!

AMERIE - Why R U?

It's no secret that I have a soft spot for Amerie. Therefore from here on out I think I will be giving monthly updates on the new Def Jam signee. You're welcome.

Why R U

The GAME disses Jay-Z..............Of Course!

One good freestyle deserves.....another? Sprinkled in with some "F@%* Jay-Z" chants for good measure. I wonder how many of these French concertgoers chanting the blasphemy are going to buy Blueprint 3 and how many of them bought L.A.X.? Just curious.

Drake - Best I Ever Had (Full Version)

Wheelchair Jimmy Strikes Back! This is a pretty good video. It's funny and creative which I can't say about most videos I see. The only thing I don't understand is why it seems so amateurish/low-budget. That gym looks like the one in my high school. Was this filmed at Degrassi? With Kanye directing and Weezy backing him I was expecting to see Big Things. Maybe next time.
